Speaker Bios

Stephan Tromp is currently the Deputy Secretary General of HDE, the German Retail Association), the Managing Director of that association’s subsidiary, HDE Trade Services GmbH, and the IFS Management GmbH. He has knowledge of both political processes and the economic management of business enterprises. One of the main focuses of his activities is establishing and management of service projects. Since 2002, he has managed the international auditing standard, IFS International Featured Standards, which is used by companies from retail, wholesale, logistic and industry worldwide for the assessment of their suppliers. In 2011, he established the pesticide monitoring program, fruitmonitoring.com, which unites the activities of the German retail companies to form a joint approach to monitoring. Stephan is responsible for digitization projects both in the association and in the companies, and builds the bridge between political lobbying and digital business models implemented in the companies. He has an economics diploma, acquired from the Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft, Berlin (Berlin School of Economics) and his native language is German.  He is also fluent in English and Dutch.

Dr. Andrea Niemann-Haberhausen is the co-owner of 1stSolution CTC GMBH, a national accredited certification body located in Europe offering supplier audits, training and certification world-wide. Building on her Doctorate in Chemistry, Andrea has been bringing her experience and knowledge of chemistry and food safety to the food and packaging industries for 3 decades.  Specifically, she specializes in auditing companies for IFS and AuditOne certifications.

Patrick R. Subban is the Director Quality for Silgan Plastics. His most recent accomplishment includes the development of systems that can be easily flexed by any packaging converter to meet requirements for various markets such as food, health care, personal care, household and industrial chemicals. These systems have been proven effective with various certifications (GFSI, ISO 15378, ISO 9001, GMA, etc.), customer audits, internal audits and performance with respect to core metrics (Safety, Financial, Productivity & Customer Satisfaction). He recently supported Audit One with the development of a new packaging standard (GFSI + Aspects of ISO 15378). His other contributions to the Packaging Industry include Standard Development Member for IFS PAC Secure Food Safety Packaging Standard, CGSB Plastic Jugs for Export of Oil as Food Aid, CGSB UN Dangerous Goods Performance Packaging. In his spare time, he is assessing writing a book on systems alignment with customer touch points and opportunities for exchange in abundance.

Bill Bremer is a Principal with Kestrel Management and heads the company’s food safety consulting group. In his food compliance roles, he has led compliance and assurance activities to help many food industry companies meet FDA/FSMA, GFSI (i.e., BRC, IFS, FSSC22000, SQF), HACCP, EHS, and overall operations management requirements. Bill has been involved as a GFSI standard stakeholder and delegate on Technical Working Groups, working with GFSI schemes and standards. He has conducted a number of food safety workshops for clients and a variety of industry organizations and is the founder of the Food Safety Professional Group. Bill also works as a generalist for other industries in compliance and business improvement, focusing on sustainability, waste reduction, process improvement/transformation, restructuring, and EHS.Bill is a member of APICS; a certified lead assessor for ISO 9000; and an experienced practitioner in TQM, Lean, and Consensus Decision-Making under GOAL/QPC. He is a graduate of Lake Forest College with a degree in Biology and Chemistry and has a Certificate in Business from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Pius Gasser has over 40 years of experience in the food industry and is the owner of GCP Consulting, a Management Consulting Company specializing in Management Coaching, Training, and Food Safety Implementations. He is the Technical Project Manager for IFS in North America, an Approved Trainer Provider (ATP), an industry trainer for IFS Food, IFS PACsecure, and IFS Logistics, and is qualified to instruct Trainers, Consultants and Auditors for IFS PACsecure and IFS Logistics. He is also an approved Instructor for the trainers of Internal and Lead Auditors and a HACCP Trainer of the International HACCP Alliance (GMO).  Pius provides guidance in Risk Assessment, Root Cause Analysis and GMPs.
